About Dingo Dogs Tenerife...
This is a very brief history of Dingo Dogs Tenerife.
Our sanctuary started nearly 17 years ago when our first dog was rescued from the Police Compound in Arona after being lifted as a stray from the streets of Los Cristianos.
Dingo had been a regular around the Market area for as long as people could remember, and was looked after by many of the stallholders and local business, however one day his luck ran out and the local police decided to have a clear up and took him back to the their kennels.
Without an owner, Dingo would have almost certainly been destined to 'death row', something that our founder Phil Nelson refused to let happen - unfortunatley there was a small matter of 30 million pesatas to secure Dingo's release, how on earth could Phil raise that sort of cash?
Well, Phil put his thinking cap on and ended up down on the beach in Puerto Colon where he made a Sand Sculpture of the Three Wise Monkeys - passers by gave money in recognition of this fabulous work of art (unfortunately there was no photograph taken that we know of ... maybe you were there that day, if you were and you took a photo, please let us have a copy and we will display it on our site!).
Phil took the proceeds to the Police and Dingo was formally adopted by Phil, staying with him until he passed away at a ripe old age, in 2007.
